Raonsecure is expanding its push into the financial sector's quantum security market.
Raonsecure said on the 20th that it signed a contract to supply a post-quantum cryptography (PQC) security framework for the "customer-centric digital channel transition" project led by NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance.
Following a first PQC supply deal in the financial sector with KDB Life Insurance last month, Raonsecure has now won a contract with NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance as well. It is discussing PQC adoption and supply with more than 10 major financial institutions and is expanding related discussions to public agencies.
The project will apply Raonsecure's mobile app virtual keypad "TouchEn mTranskey" and e-signature solutions "Key# Wireless" and "Key# Biz." TouchEn mTranskey protects key information entered by customers with PQC technology, while Key# Wireless and Key# Biz apply PQC security to authentication and e-signature segments in mobile and PC environments, respectively.
Accordingly, NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance will apply a PQC security framework at the stages of customer data entry, identity verification, and transaction approval. It plans to proactively respond to security threats to existing cryptographic systems that may arise from quantum computers and further raise the security of its digital financial services.
Meanwhile, Raonsecure has continued research and development and product commercialization to apply PQC technology to real-world industrial environments such as finance and the public sector. In 2024, it loaded algorithms based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) CRYSTALS-Kyber into Key# Wireless and Key# Biz, and it also established a technical framework that supports the Korean post-quantum cryptography (KpqC).
It also obtained conformity validation under the National Intelligence Service cryptographic module validation program (KCMVP) and certification under the U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 140-2), laying the groundwork to reliably meet stringent security requirements of domestic and overseas financial and public institutions.
Last year, as the lead corporations in the medical field of the "post-quantum cryptography pilot transition support project" by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), it implemented PQC-based segment encryption on Severance Hospital's first open medical data platform in Korea. Raonsecure plans to expand the scope of PQC adoption across industries that handle large-scale data, including finance and the public sector as well as telecommunications, platforms, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Raonsecure CEO Lee Jeong-a said, "The supply contract with NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance is a meaningful achievement that shows Raonsecure's PQC technology spreading into authentication and e-signature environments of real financial services," adding, "With the revision of the Quantum Technology Industry Act expected to expand quantum security responses across the public and private sectors, we will lead the PQC transition in various industries based on the technology prowess and deployment experience validated in finance."
