EVSIS, Lotte Innovate's electric vehicle charging subsidiary, is moving ahead in earnest with a project to build eco-friendly electric bus charging infrastructure in Indonesia.
EVSIS said on the 20th it held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 15th for the installation of an electric bus charging station at the Leuwi Panjang bus depot on the bus rapid transit (BRT) line in West Java, Indonesia. The groundbreaking marks the stage of carrying out on site a contract EVSIS signed in Dec. 2025.
About 100 people from both countries' governments, related agencies, and corporations attended the event, including Kim Do-wan, a director at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups; Kim Seong-geun, CEO of the Chungnam Center for Creative Economy and Innovation; and Oh Young-sik, CEO of EVSIS from the Korea side, as well as key officials from Indonesia.
At the ceremony, EVSIS demonstrated a 200 kW ultra-fast charger tailored to Indonesia's electric bus operating environment, along with key equipment. Through this, the company showcased its platform-based infrastructure capabilities not only for supplying chargers but also for building the energy management, charging facility operation, and integrated control needed to run electric buses.
According to EVSIS, the project is part of Indonesia's official development assistance (ODA) program, and the key is to build an integrated energy infrastructure beyond charger installation to support electric bus operations. EVSIS plans to broaden the applicability of K-charging infrastructure in the Southeast Asia public institutional sector by providing an integrated solution that includes operation and control capabilities, going beyond simple product exports.
EVSIS also has charging technology based on its self-developed power line communication (PLC) modem and is targeting the U.S. market with ultra-fast chargers using this technology. The company also developed and applied its own "K-VAS technology," which collects battery status information in real time to ensure charging efficiency and safety. In addition, it is continuously developing next-generation technologies such as V2G (vehicle to grid) chargers and a 1 MW-class megawatt charger prototype.
Oh Young-sik, CEO of EVSIS, said, "This is a meaningful result in which EVSIS's charging technology and operating capabilities have been applied in an overseas public infrastructure setting," adding, "Based on our successful deployment experience in Indonesia, we will expand eco-friendly public transit infrastructure in the Southeast Asia market and accelerate global business expansion."
