The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) will work with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to boost information and communication technology (ICT) standards capacity in the Asia-Pacific region and support the spread of technology by domestic corporations.
TTA said on the 20th that the two organizations adopted a joint declaration on spreading ICT standards and training professionals. It plans to expand exchanges of experts in advanced and emerging technologies and share experiences and best practices of applying international standards to real industries and services with countries in the region. Through this, it aims to strengthen each country's capacity to use standards and support digital transformation.
This joint declaration was pursued on the occasion of standard security technology training that TTA conducted in February for officials from Asia-Pacific and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). At the time, together with domestic corporations, it introduced hands-on Korean-style international standard solutions, such as "passwordless" technology that verifies users without passwords, and received positive feedback from participants.
The ITU has also set as key tasks for 2026–2029 in the Asia-Pacific region the closing of standardization gaps between countries and the strengthening of human capacity to respond to future ICT policies and regulations. This cooperation is expected to link that regional strategy to concrete education and technology exchange projects.
TTA plans to increase opportunities to introduce standard technologies and related equipment developed by domestic corporations to the Asia-Pacific region and support local adoption and entry into international markets. TTA President Son Seung-hyeon said the association will work closely with the ITU so that excellent domestic technologies spread beyond the Asia-Pacific region to the global market, based on the association's accumulated expertise in standardization and experience in international cooperation.
