LG Electronics said on the 19th it will introduce an appliance subscription service to the Apgujeong reconstruction complex in Seoul. The project, carried out in partnership with Hyundai Engineering & Construction, will target about 7,000 member households in Apgujeong zones 2, 3 and 5.
Prospective residents can choose five to seven types of built-in appliances per zone on a subscription basis, including a refrigerator, washer, dryer, Styler and dishwasher. For penthouses in zones 3 and 5, the company plans to apply premium appliance brands SKS and LG Signature. For households on the appliance subscription, the company will provide maintenance services such as disassembly cleaning and performance checks for five years after move-in. After the free service period ends, residents can sign up for a separate care membership.
LG Electronics is expanding the business-to-business (B2B) housing market with a focus on appliance subscriptions and artificial intelligence (AI) homes. Recently, it signed a business agreement with domestic builders and began joint development of next-generation AI homes based on the AI home hub "ThinQ ON." Using ThinQ ON, LG Electronics plans to link complex infrastructure such as elevator calls and community facility reservations, as well as control in-unit appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
As of the first half of this year, the number of households with the ThinQ app's apartment-specialized "Our complex consolidation" service has surpassed 300,000. The service provides both appliance control and common-facility use functions in a single app.
Park Jae-seong, head of the Korea B2B Group at LG Electronics, said, "We will expand subscription services tailored to apartment residential environments to secure growth drivers in the B2B market."
