Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) said on the 16th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) to develop and expand closed-circuit (CC)TV technology tailored for construction sites.

The agreement was pursued to establish performance testing and certification standards for CCTV that reflect the characteristics of construction sites, where equipment and personnel frequently move, and to support the prevention of safety accidents at dam and water supply construction sites. Construction site–tailored CCTV is a control system that analyzes video from worksites to detect workers' movements and hazardous situations in real time and support rapid response to accidents.

Under the agreement, KISA will build video databases (DB) that reflect the actual environment of Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) construction sites and evaluate CCTV performance based on them. The evaluation results will be used to establish a new specialized field, "construction safety (water resources, water supply)," within the CCTV performance testing and certification system operated by KISA. Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) will support field environments necessary for building video data and plans to strengthen a smart safety management system by adopting CCTV products certified by KISA.

Oh Jin-young, head of the information security industry division at KISA, said, "We hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity to elevate the safety management system at construction sites by one step," and added, "We will continue to expand related technology development and institutional support so that site-tailored CCTV can contribute to realizing a safe society that protects people's daily lives."
