LG Uplus said on the 15th it revamped "Roaming Pass" to cut the cumbersome setup and signup steps customers face when using international roaming.
The revamped Roaming Pass starts automatically the moment a customer arrives at a local airport and first connects to the network. Previously, customers had to manually enter their local arrival time when enrolling in roaming. Because they had to consider time differences and daylight saving time by country, many had said the pre-departure setup was cumbersome.
The revamped Roaming Pass also automates family data sharing settings and repetitive signup steps. Previously, each family member had to enroll in roaming and then go through a separate process to share data, but after the revamp, if a family using a bundled plan applies to share roaming data, the primary subscriber can set up roaming enrollment and data sharing at once. In addition, customers visiting multiple countries over a certain period had to repeatedly apply for roaming every time they departed, but the revamped Roaming Pass improves this by allowing them to set it once at the start and have roaming apply automatically afterward without separate enrollment.
Customers who use multiple devices overseas can also reduce additional setup burdens. LG Uplus made it possible to automatically retrieve and consolidate a tablet being used in Korea through data sharing during the roaming enrollment process.
The Roaming Pass revamp was carried out based on customer feedback received through the customer participation platform Simple. Lab. Simple. Lab is a customer participation platform where users submit inconveniences felt while using telecommunications services and suggest improvement ideas.
Jang Jun-young, head of marketing group at LG Uplus (executive director), said, "Analyzing customer feedback received through Simple. Lab, customers wanted to reduce the hassle of roaming enrollment and data use and focus solely on their trips," and added, "We improved the travel experience by reflecting these customer voices."
Roaming Pass, LG Uplus' roaming service, is a period-based roaming plan that allows overseas travelers to use data in 83 countries worldwide for up to 30 days. Prices range from 29,000 won to 79,000 won.
