TSMC, the world's largest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturer) and often cited as the biggest beneficiary of increased artificial intelligence (AI) investment, has once again set a new monthly sales record.
TSMC said in a filing on the 13th that its sales in June this year totaled 442.68 billion Taiwan dollars (about 20.8 trillion won). That was up 67.9% from the same period a year earlier and 6.2% higher than the previous record set on May 416.975 billion Taiwan dollars (about 19.6 trillion won), marking the highest monthly sales ever.
Second-quarter (April–June) sales this year were 1.27 trillion Taiwan dollars (about 59.5 trillion won), up 36% from a year earlier. That was in line with the market consensus of 1.264 trillion Taiwan dollars compiled by Reuters.
Cumulative sales for the first half also maintained steep growth. Cumulative sales from January to June this year were 2.404484 trillion Taiwan dollars (about 113 trillion won), up 35.6% from the same period last year.
The industry sees TSMC's strong performance continuing as demand for advanced processes from AI Semiconductor customers, including Nvidia, keeps expanding. TSMC plans to disclose its outlook and investment plans during its second-quarter earnings release and conference call on the 16th.
