Game company Gravity said on the 13th that it shifted to a co-CEO structure with Park Hyun-cheol and Yoshinori Kitamura to strengthen headquarters competitiveness and grow in the global market.
Gravity is expanding its business into games, exhibitions, animation, and other areas centered on the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Ragnarok intellectual property (IP). Accordingly, it adopted a co-chief executive officer (CEO) system on Mar. in.
CEO Park oversees strengthening functions such as development and operations of the Korea headquarters, organizational management, and talent management. CEO Kitamura is in charge of global business strategy, IP strategy, new businesses, and cooperation with overseas group companies.
Gravity plans to raise decision-making speed and expertise by distinguishing the responsibilities and authority of the two CEOs as business areas and management tasks grow more complex.
A Gravity official said, "This shift to a co-CEO structure was pursued to secure the stability of the governance structure for the future as Gravity's global influence expands by the day, while moving in a more substantial and clear direction," and added, "The two co-CEOs, each with expertise in their respective areas, will realize responsible management and, based on the resulting synergy, further advance the global business."
