OpenAI said on the 10th that it launched an artificial intelligence (AI) agent, "ChatGPT Work," that performs tasks on behalf of users.
ChatGPT Work gathers information across multiple apps and files based on OpenAI's cutting-edge model GPT-5.6 and the coding tool Codex, and advances complex tasks step by step to produce finished outputs such as documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and web apps.
It also allows users to continue repetitive tasks and long-running projects while away through plugins (extensions), a built-in browser, computer use, and scheduled jobs. OpenAI said, "ChatGPT is evolving beyond merely answering questions into a partner that performs real work together," adding, "It handles repetitive tasks so users can focus on more important work."
ChatGPT Work runs on GPT-5.6, which officially launched that day. GPT-5.6 consists of three models: the top-tier Sol, the second-tier Terra, and the cost-efficient Luna. Among them, Sol recorded best-in-class performance in coding, knowledge work, cybersecurity, and science, and performs tasks with fewer tokens and lower expense than OpenAI's transfer model and rival models, the company said.
ChatGPT Work supports plugins that integrate with Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, email, calendar, and customer relationship management (CRM). It also released in beta a "Sites" feature that lets users create a site or web app and share it with team members via a URL (web address).
Kim Gyeong-hun, head of OpenAI Korea, said, "ChatGPT Work will be an important first step in helping Korea's corporations and individuals break free from repetitive tasks, focus on more important problems, and turn good ideas into real results."
ChatGPT Work will roll out in stages starting that day on the web and mobile for Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users, and will expand to Plus and Business users within a few days. The ChatGPT desktop app becomes available that day to Mac and Windows users worldwide and is offered on all plans, including the free plan.
