LG Electronics is launching the large-capacity commercial washer "LG Professional" and expanding its business-to-business (B2B) operations with global home appliance corporations. The product line targets clients with high-volume laundry needs, such as hotels, hospitals and nursing facilities.
LG Electronics said on the 8th that it will begin rolling out LG Professional this month in major markets, starting in Europe and then in Asia and North America. The lineup consists of six models: 30-, 25- and 20-kilogram washers, 30- and 25-kilogram dryers, and an all-in-one washer-dryer combo that handles both washing and drying in a single unit. The combo model has a 25-kilogram wash capacity and a 16-kilogram dry capacity.
Until now, LG Electronics has supplied sub-20-kilogram commercial laundry appliances to school dormitories and laundries in residential complexes. After establishing its business base in Korea as well as in Asia, North America and the Middle East, the company plans to use the new products to step up its push into the large-capacity market.
Europe is seen as a key market. With a developed tourism industry and a high share of older adults, demand for commercial laundry centered on hotels, hospitals and nursing facilities is growing. Market research firm SkyQuest projected that the global commercial laundry market will grow to about $10.8 billion by 2032.
LG Professional features "AI CoreTech," which combines core component technologies with artificial intelligence (AI). The AI analyzes laundry weight to adjust water usage and optimizes drying conditions to reduce time and electricity consumption.
The washer supports high-speed spin-drying at up to 1,100 rpm. At 1,100 rpm, the drum rotates up to 1,100 times per minute, or about 18 times per second. It reduces residual moisture after washing to shorten drying time.
It also applies the "Dynamic Ball-Core System" to reduce vibration and noise. A gyro sensor detects drum imbalance and automatically corrects it to minimize shaking that can occur during high-speed spin cycles. It also helps ease component wear, reducing maintenance burdens.
The dryer and the all-in-one washer-dryer use a low-temperature dehumidifying "Dual Inverter Heat Pump." The heat pump removes moisture from laundry using heat generated during the refrigerant circulation process. Compared with a heater that applies direct high heat, it uses less electricity and can reduce fabric damage.
LG Electronics said LG Professional offers the industry's first combo model with a heat pump and the industry's largest-capacity dryer. It said the product is well-suited to Europe's commercial laundry market, which prioritizes energy efficiency.
LG Professional does not require duct installation to vent hot air, and it does not need drilling holes in walls. It is easy to install in Europe's older buildings where structural changes are difficult or in leased commercial spaces. The user interface features a 7-inch touch LCD. Users can check and operate key functions on one screen, allowing even those unfamiliar with the product to select wash and dry cycles. Beyond product supply, LG Electronics provides an integrated B2B solution that includes installation, operation, maintenance and management.
Son Chang-woo, head of the Living Solutions Business Unit at LG Electronics, said, "With AI and high-efficiency technologies and an integrated management solution, we will help customers operate their laundry business sites more efficiently and aggressively expand our business in the global commercial laundry market."
