Kakao Entertainment said on the 6th it has confirmed production of the theatrical feature Solo Leveling Beyond the System, using its popular intellectual property (IP) Solo Leveling.
The new film is an official sequel that continues the story after the 2025 anime Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow. A-1 Pictures will produce the animation.
The news of the theatrical production was first revealed at Anime Expo on the 3rd (local time) in Los Angeles. A teaser visual and a special trailer were also unveiled on site. The video shows protagonist Sung Jin-woo and the shadow army appearing in the real world, and the teaser visual reveals Sung Jin-woo poised for a new battle. The release schedule and the countries where it will open will be announced sequentially later.
Solo Leveling depicts the story of Sung Jin-woo, once the weakest hunter, growing into the strongest hunter through a leveling-up ability. The web novel and webtoon have recorded a combined 14.3 billion global views, and it is a representative K-story IP that has expanded into animation, games, and drama.
The animation is also continuing its global success. Both season 1 and season 2 were box-office hits overseas, and at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, the world's largest animation awards, it won nine awards in 2025, including anime of the year, best new series, and best action. At this year's awards, it also won best anime and best action anime, taking two crowns.
