Global artificial intelligence (AI) corporations Anthropic is in talks with Samsung Electronics to develop its own chips.
Technology (IT) outlet The Information reported on the 2nd (local time) that Anthropic is in discussions with Samsung Electronics as a potential partner to produce its own AI Semiconductor chips.
According to the report, Anthropic is said to be tapping Samsung Electronics' 2-nanometer (nm; 1 nm is one-billionth of a meter) process and advanced packaging facilities. However, specific plans were not disclosed.
Anthropic is a leading U.S. Generative AI service corporations co-founded by former OpenAI researchers. It develops and operates the Conversational AI service "Claude."
AI corporations have recently begun diversifying their semiconductor supply sources as service demand surges. At the same time, they are pursuing in-house chip development.
Samsung Electronics participated in Anthropic's fundraising in May alongside SK hynix. Anthropic is pushing for an initial public offering (IPO) and has been valued at 1,440 trillion won, higher than OpenAI.
