Netmarble said on the 3rd that it is taking artificial intelligence (AI) as its next growth engine and strengthening AI competitiveness optimized for the game industry. As part of that effort, it is continuously expanding related research organizations and the scope of service applications.
Netmarble has upgraded its existing AI organization around the AI strategy office to proactively respond to changes in AI technology, and recently hired AI expert Kim Jae-il as head of the AI strategy office (director).
Kim, the Deputy Minister, is leading the establishment of AI research and development (R&D) strategies, innovation in game development productivity, and the advancement of AI-based services based on expertise in large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. The AI strategy office consists of the AI platform development team, AI media development team, and AI agent development team. The organization is responsible for technology development and service application from Generative AI and AI agents to game AI.
Netmarble is focusing on creating results through AI across the entire process of game development and operations, with "practical AI" that can be applied to actual services as its core direction.
A representative example is the "AI anomaly detection system" applied to major games serviced by Netmarble, including "RF Online Next," "Vampir," and "Sol: Enchant." The system uses Deep Learning to analyze game log data and detect abnormal play patterns and anomalous behavior in real time. Netmarble is supporting the establishment of a stable operating environment for games through this technology. A Netmarble official said, "We plan to continue to expand the scope of AI technology application across new projects."
Netmarble is also accelerating the establishment of an AI agent–based work environment. The goal is to build a platform where all employees can directly create and use AI agents tailored to their work purposes, realizing a "one person, one AI agent" environment. To that end, Netmarble is researching and developing various work AI agents, including code agents, quality assurance (QA) automation agents, and report-writing agents.
A company official said, "We are gradually building a work environment in which AI performs repetitive tasks and members focus on high value-added work such as planning and decision-making."
