LG Electronics is expanding its heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business foothold in Asia. It will open new HVAC academies in Taiwan and Singapore and strengthen training and solution support for local business-to-business (B2B) customers and engineers.

LG Electronics said on the 2nd that it recently opened HVAC academies in Taichung, Taiwan, and Singapore. The move is aimed at broadening its air solutions business base in regions where urbanization and demand for industrial infrastructure are growing, and at establishing a system that responds locally from installation to maintenance.

LG Electronics operates about 70 HVAC academies in more than 40 countries worldwide. With training hubs in Asia, Europe, North America, Central and South America, and Africa, it trains more than 30,000 air solutions engineers each year.

Each academy provides training on installing and maintaining residential and commercial HVAC systems, high-efficiency chillers, and liquid cooling solutions (CDU, coolant distribution unit). It also offers engineering technology courses for HVAC design.

HVAC business requirements differ by country-specific regulations, installation environments, and building uses. Energy efficiency, ease of maintenance, and product installation methods also affect bid competitiveness. LG Electronics plans to enhance capabilities in design, construction, and after-sales service through region-specific expert training.

The HVAC academy also serves as a B2B customer touchpoint. LG Electronics holds forums for installation engineers and invites consultants responsible for HVAC design and major large-building client companies for seminars. Inside the academy, it has set up an integrated exhibition zone displaying key products such as system air conditioners and high-efficiency heat pump HVAC systems.

It is also increasing its European foothold. LG Electronics opened a new academy in Poznan, Poland, in May. In Poland, including Warsaw and Wroclaw, it operates the largest number of HVAC academies in Europe. The Poznan hub consists of classrooms, a showroom, and practice spaces, and is used for experiencing new solutions and for distribution-linked training.

It is expanding training infrastructure in the Global South, considered an emerging market. LG Electronics operates HVAC academies in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and Santiago, Chile, among others, broadening its local B2B business base.

It is also pursuing partner collaboration in parallel. In April, LG Electronics invited major HVAC partners from 15 Asian countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, to Korea and held "LG HVAC Connect 2026." More than 70 key partners from each country attended the event. They handle distribution and installation of LG Electronics' HVAC products locally.

LG Electronics views the academy as a foundation to expand post-sales service and solution businesses. By combining training, design support, and maintenance capabilities, it aims to use it to grow non-hardware (N-HW) revenue and manage B2B customers.

President Lee Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics' ES Business Division, said, "HVAC academies, which we are expanding worldwide, will not only serve as hubs for B2B business in each region, but also enhance the capabilities and skills of local engineers, contributing to the growth of non-hardware revenue."
