Korea-based design house Semifive won a mass-production contract in the Japanese market. Semifive said on the 26th that it secured a mass-production supply contract (PO) for AI chips for high-performance computing (HPC) from a Japanese AI chip client.
The contract is in the 11 billion won range, and the volume is scheduled to be supplied sequentially starting in the second half of this year. The company said it expects follow-up supply contracts to proceed in sequence starting with this order.
With the recent spread of generative AI and increased investment in data center infrastructure, global demand is exploding for HPC chips that simultaneously meet computing performance and power efficiency.
Semifive has kept pace with these market changes and the expansion of advanced chip investment in Japan by establishing a local subsidiary in Tokyo last year and building a close customer support system.
This order is a representative case in which the strategy to enter the Japanese market led to tangible business results.
