Samsung Electronics' organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV ranked No. 1 in the June evaluation by the U.S. consumer magazine "Consumer Reports."
Samsung Electronics said on the 25th that in this evaluation, the 77-inch OLED TV "S95H" scored 91 points to take first place among products 70 inches and larger. The 55-inch OLED TV S95H also scored 90 points to rank No. 1 in the 55- to 60-inch range.
Consumer Reports evaluates picture quality, high dynamic range (HDR), viewing angle, sound quality, brand reliability, and more. It also factors in data privacy and security. Consumer Reports rated the picture quality of the Samsung OLED TV 77-inch S95H as "Excellent," the highest grade. It said the TV renders various colors naturally, including skin tones, based on precise detail and color accuracy. Contrast and black reproduction also received high marks. Consumer Reports explained that it delivers a clear difference between the darkest blacks and brightest whites, providing depth and dimensionality even in dark scenes.
HDR performance and viewing angle were also cited as strengths. Samsung OLED TVs increase the realism of 4K content with high peak brightness and maintain stable picture quality even in well-lit spaces, according to the evaluation. With a wide viewing angle, picture degradation is minimal when multiple people watch the TV from different positions, and there is little afterimage even in fast-moving scenes.
In the sound quality category, it was assessed as suitable for enjoying various content such as movies, music, and TV programs by providing deep bass and clear treble. The analysis also said it delivers sufficient sound performance even in noisy environments.
Market performance also improved. According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung Electronics increased its sales volume in the global OLED TV market by 28.8% in the first quarter of this year compared with a year earlier. Its revenue-based market share was 38.9%.
