Samsung Electronics said on the 23rd that it will sequentially distribute Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates to customers who participated in the "With the people, Samsung Electronics Thanks Festival." The aim is to produce a win-win effect by consolidation of product purchase benefits with spending at traditional markets and among local small businesses.
Samsung Electronics will distribute Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates starting on the 24th to customers who participated in this event, which has been running for four weeks since the 8th. The event was prepared to share with customers the results Samsung Electronics achieved in areas such as semiconductors in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
Samsung Electronics will give customers who bought eligible products 20% of the purchase amount in Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates. For "K-heroes," including service members, police officers, firefighters, and correctional officers, it will provide an additional 10% benefit.
To receive the gift certificates, customers must sign up for Samsung Electronics Membership on Samsung.com by Sept. 30 and enter the purchased item, place of purchase, model code, and serial number. After completing registration, about two weeks from the application date, 20% of the purchase amount will be deposited in the "Digital Onnuri" app.
Customers must install the "Digital Onnuri" app on mobile and complete membership registration. The gift certificates can be used at Onnuri Gift Certificate merchants such as traditional markets, small-business shops in local commercial districts, and convenience stores. In the app, select "QR payment" and scan the store's QR code, or register a credit or debit card under the customer's name and pay at the merchant to have the balance automatically deducted. However, they cannot be used at 33 restricted business types, including stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won and services such as hospitals and clinics, Korean medicine clinics, and legal and accounting services.
Samsung Electronics chose to provide Onnuri Gift Certificates instead of directly discounting product prices so that customer benefits would lead to local spending. The company said it plans to contribute to expanding sales at traditional markets and among small businesses through this event.
