IT services corporations Samsung SDS will begin supplying Generative AI services to Samsung Group affiliates within this month. Acting as a reseller for Generative AI services such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and Anthropic's Claude, Samsung SDS will handle affiliate-by-affiliate AI adoption and operations to support a groupwide enterprise "AI transformation" (AX) at Samsung Group.
On the 23rd, according to ChosunBiz reporting, Samsung SDS plans to supply three external Generative AI services—ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude—to all Samsung Group affiliates within this month. Samsung SDS will serve as a reseller for OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, taking on the role of supplying and supporting the operation of Generative AI within the group. Samsung SDS plans to provide the necessary AI services based on each affiliate's demand.
Samsung Group affiliates will choose and adopt the AI services they need based on job characteristics and organizational makeup. For example, organizations with a high proportion of developers will use ChatGPT Codex or Claude, which are strong in code generation and task automation, while organizations centered on general office work will adopt Gemini, which excels at document drafting, information search, and collaboration features.
Previously, OpenAI said it would supply ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Samsung Electronics, and Samsung Electronics plans to use a range of Generative AI—including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude—tailored to job characteristics.
In early this month, Samsung said it would officially adopt external Generative AI services across all affiliates in June this year to strengthen business competitiveness. With this, it presented a blueprint to push a groupwide AX that applies AI across all work areas, including research and development (R&D), manufacturing, marketing, and management support.
As Samsung's groupwide AX gets underway in earnest, Samsung SDS is expected to benefit. AI service adoption does not end with simple license supply, as it entails various follow-up projects such as consulting, system building, operations, security architecture design, and integration with in-house systems.
A Samsung SDS official said, "We plan to supply ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to all Samsung affiliates, and each affiliate will choose the AI services needed to match job characteristics and organizational makeup," and added, "Samsung SDS, as a reseller of global AI corporations, will handle operational support and plans to assist the group's AI transformation."
