Nota, a corporations specializing in AI model light-weighting and optimization technologies, said on the 23rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG CNS to commercialize an AI-based real-time intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology.
The agreement aims to combine LG CNS' global Smart City and ITS project execution capabilities with Nota's AI light-weighting and optimization technologies to expand joint business opportunities in the overseas transportation infrastructure market.
The two companies plan to jointly address demand for the digital transformation of transportation infrastructure and the advancement of AI-based traffic management by linking Nota's ITS technology with the in-house AI Smart City platform mounted on LG CNS' city integrated operation center.
Nota is implementing ITS technology that enables real-time video analysis even in edge environments, based on its AI model light-weighting and optimization capabilities. Through the generative vision-language model (VLM)-based video monitoring solution "NVA," it can perceive and understand on-site situations and provide a variety of traffic control functions, including traffic flow analysis, incident detection, and recognition of pedestrian and vehicle risk situations.
LG CNS has promoted various ITS projects in the global Smart City market, centering on its city integrated operation center (IOC), which precisely analyzes and forecasts citywide traffic flows.
The two companies plan to target the Americas as a primary market and jointly identify concrete project opportunities where AI-based ITS technologies can be applied. Earlier, the two companies collaborated on the Nairobi, Kenya, ITS construction project.
Chae Myeong-su, CEO of Nota, said, "Because transportation is a key area where physical AI can create real value in urban infrastructure, we will develop AI-based intelligent transportation system solutions that can be used in the field, based on the two companies' technologies and business capabilities."
