LG Electronics is expanding its lineup of combination washer-dryers by adding artificial intelligence (AI) features to its core component technologies.
LG Electronics said on the 21st it will launch new products this month, the "LG Tromm AI Objet Collection WashTower (hereafter WashTower)" and the "LG Tromm AI Objet Collection WashCombo (hereafter WashCombo)."
The WashTower has both a 25-kg wash and 25-kg dry capacity, while the WashCombo offers 25 kg for washing and 21 kg for drying. LG Electronics said the two models are the largest-capacity combination washer-dryers released in Korea.
The new models pair key components—such as a motor that precisely drives the drum and a compressor that lowers temperatures or produces dry air—with AI features to deliver more delicate washing and drying. AI DD motor, one of LG Electronics' core technologies, chooses the optimal motion among six based on fabric type, soil level, and load size to wash and dry.
The new WashTower and WashCombo earned the top Grade 1 for energy efficiency, reducing electricity costs. Both models remove the detergent drawer handle and use a push-to-open design for added convenience.
The WashCombo is equipped with the key AI functions found in the WashTower. It offers "AI Time Sensing," which gauges the load and displays the estimated time for each cycle in three seconds, and "AI Time Guide," which learns usage patterns to provide increasingly accurate estimated drying times.
The new products also reflect various customer opinions. The WashCombo features a Dual Inverter heat pump and a high-efficiency heat exchanger, and increases component integration to boost drying capacity by 6 kg compared with the previous model. Selecting the new "small quick cycle" allows washing and drying to finish in about 64 minutes for a 3-kg load, more than 30% shorter than the previous model's 99 minutes. In addition, when paired with Mini Wash, users can control Mini Wash directly from the WashCombo display without bending over, improving convenience.
The WashTower will be available in seven colors, including Luxe Silver and Steel Black. The WashCombo comes in four colors: Luxe Silver, Steel Black, Taupe, and Space Black. The shipping price ranges from 5.09 million to 5.19 million won depending on specifications.
Son Chang-woo, head of the Living Solutions Business Unit at the HS Business Division of LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to lead the combination washer-dryer market by leveraging differentiated AI features centered on our core AI DD motor technology and the advantage of the largest capacity in Korea."
