Bloomberg News reported on the 18th (local time) that Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, signed a contract with data center developer Crusoe to supply artificial intelligence (AI) computing. Analysts said Meta, which is expanding its AI business, is accelerating efforts to secure computing capacity.
According to the report, Meta signed a deal to purchase 1.6 gigawatts (GW) of AI computing capacity from two data centers Crusoe operates in the United States. One GW can supply electricity to about 750,000 U.S. households. The specific size of the contract was not disclosed.
Founded in 2018, Crusoe is an AI infrastructure corporations that builds and operates AI-focused data centers.
Big tech corporations, including Meta, are rushing to secure AI data centers and computing resources to meet surging AI demand. Meta, for its part, has released that it will invest $600 billion (about 920 trillion won) in AI infrastructure over the next few years.
