Samsung Electronics launched the "Samsung AI Modular Home" in partnership with Space Manufacturing Studio, a corporations specializing in wooden modular dwellings. Samsung Electronics is entering the single-family modular construction market by applying artificial intelligence (AI) appliances and a SmartThings-based AI home solution to modular dwellings.
Samsung Electronics said on the 18th it opened a "Samsung AI Modular Home" showroom in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, jointly planned and produced with Space Manufacturing Studio. The showroom is arranged like an actual living space by applying Samsung Electronics' AI appliances and a SmartThings-based AI home solution to Space Manufacturing Studio's wooden modular house. The size consists of two spaces: 330㎡ and 66㎡.
Space Manufacturing Studio is a corporations that uses AI-based design and an automated production system to pre-produce more than 80% of a dwelling in a factory, then transport it to the site for assembly and installation. Modular dwellings have advantages over site-centered construction methods, including shorter construction periods, easier assurance of uniform quality, and reduced construction waste.
Actual buyers can choose from various dwelling sizes such as 33㎡, 99㎡, and 132㎡ to match their lifestyle and lot size. The "Samsung AI Modular Home" is delivered with Samsung Electronics' appliances and solutions installed and registered from the factory production stage.
Customers can select from more than 20 SmartThings-connected devices, including AI appliances such as air conditioners, heat pump boilers, refrigerators, and TVs, as well as smart lighting, home cams, and door cams, depending on the space's form and purpose. The company said this can reduce the process of purchasing appliances separately after moving in or registering a home Internet of Things (IoT) network.
Starting with single-family modular dwellings, Samsung Electronics plans to expand AI Modular Home application models to mid-rise buildings of four stories or higher. The policy is to build a structure that can apply AI home solutions regardless of dwelling type or building form.
In Feb. last year, Samsung Electronics signed a business agreement with Yuchang E&C, a corporations specializing in manufacturing modular buildings, to develop modular dwellings for multi-family housing. At "IFA 2025," it showcased a modular home solution for global business-to-business (B2B) clients in collaboration with Samsung C&T.
Yang Hye-sun, vice president of the DA Division at Samsung Electronics, said, "Through our collaboration with Space Manufacturing Studio, we are presenting a modular, single-family AI home equipped with AI appliances and solutions from the planning and production stages of the dwellings," adding, "By combining the innovativeness of modular construction with Samsung Electronics' unique AI home solutions, we will propose a differentiated lifestyle that goes beyond the constraints of living spaces."
