Samsung is launching a new job training program, "Youth Hope Learning Center," for job-seeking youth outside the Seoul metropolitan area and will recruit trainees through July 19.

This program is a CSR training course Samsung prepared to participate in the youth job competency enhancement and employment support project "K-New Deal Academy," led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources and the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), and any job-seeking youth age 34 or younger residing outside the metropolitan area can apply. Applicants submit an application on the official website and are selected through a document screening and an online interview.

This year, Samsung will select 1,000 youth outside the metropolitan area and conduct training across four regions nationwide—Chungcheong, Honam, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang. Beginning with a kickoff ceremony in Jul., full-scale training will run from Aug., and trainees can freely choose a desired course based on their interested job role. The curriculum consists of six job fields, taking into account youth demand and employment linkage: electronics and IT manufacturing technicians, HVAC and refrigeration technicians, shipbuilding technicians, heavy equipment operator technicians, online advertising and public relations practitioners, and baking and pastry technicians. Each course is practice-oriented and linked to certification acquisition, with a focus on strengthening trainees' competitiveness in employment.

Samsung will leverage its experience operating the support program for youth preparing for independence, "Hope Stepping Stone 2.0," and its affiliates' training infrastructure to provide a package program that progresses from basic job competency training to job-specific training and career development. In the basic job competency training, each course's theory and essential knowledge are taught over 80 hours, and in the job-specific training, hands-on courses and certification preparation run from 240 to 540 hours depending on the course. In the subsequent career development phase, special lectures by current professionals, business sites tours, and cover letter and resume coaching are conducted over 80 hours, enabling trainees to build practical capabilities through up to 700 hours of training.

Ha Heon-jae, a senior vice president at Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions social contribution team, said the Youth Hope Learning Center is practical training designed to build the capabilities that corporations actually need and is expected to help boost young people's competitiveness in employment.
