Shinsegae I&C is partnering with Seoul National University to cultivate artificial intelligence (AI) leaders.
Shinsegae I&C said on the 16th that it signed a business agreement on the 12th at Seoul National University in Gwanak District, Seoul, to foster AI leadership and promote industry-academia cooperation.
Chief Executive Yang Yun-ji of Shinsegae I&C and Dean Kim Young-oh of the College of Engineering at Seoul National University, along with key officials from both sides, attended the signing ceremony. The two sides plan to jointly design and operate a leadership training curriculum based on the College of Engineering's Engineering Project Management program (SNU EPM).
SNU EPM is a public course offered by the College of Engineering at Seoul National University that teaches engineering-based project management and leadership competencies to external experts such as employees of corporations. Building on this, Shinsegae I&C jointly developed a customized training program that strengthens the leadership competencies needed in the AI-era IT business environment by reflecting AI and new technology utilization, on-the-job project cases, and organizational leadership capabilities.
The training program runs for a total of 14 weeks and consists of three areas: leadership, AI and new technologies, and IT project management. In the first six weeks, it covers core skills leaders need, such as planning ability, problem-solving skills, and change management. Over the next four weeks, it conducts workshops on AI business planning by job function, including understanding AI technologies and case studies of industry applications. The final four weeks build project management capabilities and practical problem-solving skills as a project manager (PM) based on real-world cases.
The course targets next-generation leaders among Shinsegae I&C employees and runs from June to September. Completion will be determined through a comprehensive evaluation of participation and team project outcomes, and graduates will receive a certificate of completion bearing the Seoul National University president's name and an Engineering Project Manager certification.
Through this course, Shinsegae I&C plans to cultivate convergence leaders who possess both technological understanding and business execution skills required in the AI transformation (AX) era. While the existing EPM has been operated for leaders across various industries, this training reflects Shinsegae I&C's business environment and actual work characteristics, earning assessments that it enhances practical applicability from IT project management and on-the-job case studies to project evaluation.
Chief Executive Yang Yun-ji of Shinsegae I&C said, "This course is a program to systematically develop next-generation leaders equipped with an understanding of AI and IT projects," adding, "We will continue to operate a curriculum that combines the College of Engineering's EPM program at Seoul National University with Shinsegae I&C's field experience to strengthen future IT leadership competencies that fit the AX era."
