Naver said on the 12th that streaming platform CHZZK drew a peak concurrent audience of 4.82 million during Korea's first match of the North and Central American World Cup, against the Czech Republic.
That far surpasses the previous record of 760,000 concurrent viewers achieved in November last year through dedicated broadcast channels during the League of Legends (LoL) World Championship.
In particular, the popular streamer Han Dong-suk's watch-along stream drew 360,000 viewers, adding to the game's fervor.
The company said CHZZK's community-style viewing culture—where users interact in real time with their preferred streamers and other fans to cheer together—is spreading across sports content. A Naver official said, "Even amid massive traffic with 4.82 million peak concurrent viewers, we effectively distributed server load and maintained a stable viewing environment."
Starting on the 12th, Naver will livestream all North and Central American World Cup matches on CHZZK through July 20.
