Kakao said on the 11th it will run a participatory campaign, "Katalk cheering battle," on KakaoTalk so users can communicate together and share the fun of real-time cheering.
First, it will offer dedicated cheering rooms for soccer fans in the open chat community. It will run three cheering rooms in total: the "legend room" and "icon room," where users can cheer for the national team together and talk about various soccer topics, and the "solitude room," where users can communicate lightly with image-centric posts. Users can choose a room based on their preferences and enjoy cheering in various ways, from free conversations to photo sharing.
It will also roll out a variety of programs. Those who participate in the soccer quiz event will receive generous prizes through a drawing, including △2026 national team uniforms △Nexon mobile gift cards. It will also offer a unique experience of decorating profiles with special campaign images alongside national team players and creating a unified wave of cheers in chat rooms by shouting the prepared cheering script together.
Users can join "Katalk cheering battle" in "Now," the third tab on KakaoTalk. Starting with the first round, held with Nexon's online soccer game FC Online through the 12th, it will run a total of three rounds, the second (June 18–19) and the third (June 24–25). On match days, it will host a variety of events and free cheering time aligned with the first half, second half, and halftime.
On the main page of "Katalk cheering battle," it will present a collection of soccer-related activities. Users can not only enjoy various short-form soccer videos, but also find and engage with communities for the teams they support in open chats created by other users. It has also prepared a variety of content, including a soccer bot that offers soccer mini-games.
A Kakao official said, "We prepared this campaign so KakaoTalk can become the nation's online cheering stands, allowing users to communicate easily and enjoyably and share the joy of cheering," adding, "We plan to continue introducing participatory experiences in the 'Now' tab, where people naturally connect around shared interests and enjoy together."
