NC said on the 10th that Jensen Huang, Nvidia's chief executive officer (CEO), visited NC's "AION2 Surprise Live" event held at a PC bang in Seoul on the 7th. The rare sight of the head of a global big tech company appearing at an offline event for game users has raised expectations for AION2's global success.
Huang's appearance stemmed from a meeting to mark the 25th anniversary of his partnership with Kim Taek-jin, NC's co-CEO. The two CEOs visited a PC bang frequented by Korean gamers together. PC bangs are places where NC and Nvidia have collaborated since the early 2000s to build their business base, and they carry symbolic meaning for both companies.
At the venue, Huang asked, "Anyone who likes AION2?" and watched users play. Looking at one user's screen during a demo, he said, "AION2 characters are truly beautiful," and "I love AION2!"
Huang, together with Kim, unveiled a physical laptop equipped with the next-generation Windows superchip RTX Spark. Huang personally introduced to users and reporters the laptop running the AION2 demo, drawing an enthusiastic response.
NC said Huang's show of support carried special meaning as AION2 prepares to go global. NC plans to launch AION2 in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan in September this year, expanding to the global market. As AION2, a hit in Korea and Taiwan, heads global, the very scene of CEO Jensen Huang praising the title in person and mingling with users is expected to generate substantial publicity.
Meanwhile, the ties between the two companies go back to the early 2000s with the development of the "Lineage" series. Over 25 years of collaboration across technology and content, they have continued joint moves at major events such as Gamescom, G-Star, and the GeForce Gamer Festival. In the game industry, the assessment is that the long-standing tech alliance is creating synergy once again as it enters a new phase with the overseas release of major new titles.
