Aravind Srinivas, CEO of AI search company Perplexity, said he plans to pursue an initial public offering (IPO) in 2028.
Srinivas said in an interview with U.S. business network CNBC on the 8th (local time), "Regardless of the two companies, we were planning something for 2028, and that plan still stands," unveiling his IPO plans. Earlier, he had said there were no IPO plans before 2028.
Srinivas said, "This week's SpaceX IPO will be an important indicator foreshadowing the future moves of Anthropic or OpenAI." He added that for Anthropic and OpenAI, their valuations could fall if the pace of innovation slows, but for now he sees no such signs.
Perplexity is an AI search startup founded in 2022 by Srinivas, formerly of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, among others. From the start, it has offered search services based on AI and is competing with Google and OpenAI.
