Nvidia has formally begun the hiring process to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) technology center in Korea.
On the 5th, according to Nvidia's hiring website, Nvidia recently posted a job opening for a physical AI solutions architect under the AI technology center, with Seoul as the duty station. The hiring areas are Digital Twin and Robotics. The core is to carry out physical AI technology collaboration with key partner researchers at universities and joint research institutes. As a trusted technical adviser, the role handles a variety of projects and proof-of-concept (PoC) tasks related to physical AI.
Specifically, university and corporations research teams in Korea will build virtual worlds with Nvidia's Omniverse platform based on OpenUSD and generate synthetic data with Nvidia's Cosmos model. They will also test robots with Nvidia Isaac Sim and support fine-tuning and deployment of an open humanoid foundation model.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a related field such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics, and more than five years of hands-on experience in Digital Twin and Robotics. Strong academic publications; experience collaborating among academia, industry, and government; and experience using the Nvidia Jetson platform are listed as preferred.
The AI technology center is a core research and development (R&D) facility where Nvidia headquarters co-develops fundamental technologies with local governments, universities, and corporations and submits papers to international conferences. It currently operates only in a few countries, including Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan, and if a Korea site materializes, it will be named a strategic hub for global technology.
Meanwhile, in October last year, Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Motor Group and the government, pledging to supply 50,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) and to establish an AI technology center.
On the day, Jensen Huang, Nvidia's chief executive officer (CEO), who visited Korea, met with reporters at Gimpo Airport and said, "We have already begun hiring for the Korea R&D center," and added, "Korea has outstanding expertise in AI and robotics and is a global manufacturing hub, making it an optimal place for R&D investment. Once we have sufficient personnel, we will also secure a site."
