On the 5th, Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), who visited Korea, held a "samso (samgyeopsal + soju) gathering" with the heads of Korea's business conglomerates. Holding a beer glass, he also offered a toast: "Go Korea, go SK, go LG, go Naver."
At about 7:10 p.m. that day, CEO Huang met Chey Tae-won, SK chairman, Koo Kwang-mo, LG chairman, and Lee Hae-jin, Naver chairman, at a barbecue restaurant near Hongik University in Mapo District, Seoul.
Chairman Chey, Chairman Koo, and Chairman Lee arrived at the restaurant first after 6:50 p.m. A crowd of about 1,000 people gathered to see CEO Huang greeted the leaders' arrival. They poured beer into their glasses and drank while waiting for CEO Huang.
When CEO Huang appeared wearing a T-shirt and leather jacket, about 1,000 people buzzed and cheered. CEO Huang shook hands with the Korean leaders, patted their backs, and took a seat. The four raised their beer glasses for a toast.
Chairman Chey even showed CEO Huang how to eat samgyeopsal wrapped in perilla leaves. Following what he learned, CEO Huang made a wrap himself and took a big bite. The meat was grilled by Chairman Koo, the "youngest," who held the tongs. Chairman Koo also tore off some tissue from the roll on the wall and handed it to the other three.
In the middle of the meal, CEO Huang stepped out of the restaurant and told citizens, "Korea is doing really well. PC bang businesses are doing well, and the Korean economy is running well." Before coming to the barbecue restaurant, CEO Huang met T1 players, including pro gamer "Faker" Lee Sang-hyeok, at the nearby T1 PC bang.
Huang also said, "My partners in Korea are very important to me." He added, "We are working on major cooperation with Hyundai Motor in Robotics. Not only Hyundai Motor but also LG, SK hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Naver—all my friends and partners—are growing together."
The restaurant where CEO Huang and the business leaders met that day is "Hyeongnim Jeyo," near Hongik Univ. Station on Seoul Subway Line No. 2. The meat is par-cooked before being served. Samgyeopsal costs 14,000 won per serving (180g).
