KT Cloud has released a server product applying Rebellions' next-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to a public-institution–only cloud for the first time among domestic cloud providers. The strategy is to expand public infrastructure based on a domestic AI Semiconductor and target demand for AI transition in the institutional sector.
KT Cloud said on the 4th that it commercialized NPU infrastructure using virtual machines (VM) at a public-only data center and obtained Cloud Security Certification (CSAP) for the first time among domestic NPUaaS. As the government expands the use of domestic AI Semiconductor, it is meaningful in that it provides AI infrastructure that meets public security standards.
This product is based on Rebellions' data center NPU "Atom Plus." Corporations participating in the public AX project can meet security regulations while also satisfying policy bonus requirements tied to the use of domestic AI Semiconductor. Based on this, AI solution corporations can provide AI agent services such as civil complaint consultation, administrative support, and document search and analysis to public institutions and local governments.
As the center of AI services shifts from training large-scale models to inference for real-world application, NPUs are drawing attention as an alternative to reduce dependence on GPUs. In particular, because public institutions must weigh security, expense, and operational stability at the same time, there is an assessment that certified domestic NPU infrastructure can broaden the options.
KT Cloud also launched the AI integrated platform "AI Nexus" in April. The service integrates the training-only infrastructure "AI Train" and the inference-only infrastructure "AI SERV" to support everything from AI model training to inference and deployment on a single platform. It also includes a model serving function that lets customers deploy self-developed models through a simple process and a model store function to choose open-source models.
KT Cloud CEO Kim Bong-gyun said, "In line with the government's policy direction to expand the use of domestic AI Semiconductor, we have launched a public-only NPU product," and added, "We will support AX innovation for public institutions and corporations and contribute to strengthening the national AI industry's competitiveness."
