Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, met with Foxconn executives to discuss cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
SK hynix said on the 3rd (local time) that Chairman Chey met with Chairman Liu Young-way of Foxconn and key executives in Taipei, Taiwan, to discuss cooperation plans to strengthen competitiveness in next-generation AI infrastructure.
Earlier in Taiwan, Chairman Chey also met with Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), and Mark Liu, TSMC chairman.
As competition in the AI industry expands beyond semiconductors to infrastructure such as servers and data centers, the industry views Chairman Chey's moves as an effort to strengthen cooperation with core corporations in the global AI ecosystem.
Foxconn is the world's largest electronics contract manufacturing corporations, well known for producing Apple's iPhones. Recently, it has supplied AI servers to global big tech corporations, establishing itself as a key corporations in the AI infrastructure market.
The two companies also exchanged views on robots, energy management, and battery technologies during the meeting. They plan to jointly seek future cooperation opportunities by combining SK Group's energy technologies with Foxconn's strengths in global manufacturing, systems integration, and AI applications.
