Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), visited the SK hynix booth at the Computex 2026 exhibition at Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan, on the 2nd and met Chey Tae-won, SK Group chairman, for the second straight day. Following his keynote the day before, in which he directly named SK hynix as a next-generation HBM4 supplier, he also examined next-generation memory products on the show floor, reaffirming the partnership between the two companies.
That day, Huang visited the SK hynix booth during his tour of the exhibition hall and looked around the displayed products with Chey. At this exhibition, SK hynix unveiled HBM4E wafers and chipsets, for which it began industry-first sample shipments at the end of last month. This is the first time a physical model of HBM4E has been revealed.
Upon entering the booth, Huang said, "SK hynix became a $1 trillion market cap company 70 years after its founding." The remark is seen as an assessment of SK hynix's standing amid surging demand for AI Semiconductor chips and growth in the HBM market.
Huang signed the displayed HBM4E wafer and the next-generation memory module, SOCAMM2. After examining SOCAMM2 closely, he said, "Very beautiful."
SOCAMM2 is a product Nvidia is pursuing as a next-generation AI Server Memory standard. With better power efficiency than existing server memory and easier capacity expansion, demand is expected to grow as the AI server and AI PC markets expand. In the industry, if HBM is the core memory of AI accelerators, SOCAMM2 is evaluated as a next-generation product that can change the memory architecture of the entire AI server system.
At last year's Computex as well, Huang visited the SK hynix booth and wrote "One Team" on an HBM product, emphasizing the partnership between the two companies. Earlier, in his Computex keynote on the 1st, Huang said, "HBM4 memory will be supplied by SK hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Micron," unveiling the supply chain for the next-generation AI platform.
Chey also said at a global media roundtable that day, "We hope to continue to maintain our status as a major HBM supplier," adding, "It is important to provide what customers want."
