Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang will appear on a Korean variety show for the first time.
Huang, who is visiting Korea this week, is drawing growing attention from the business and tech sectors as he is expected to take in meetings with major domestic business leaders, a possible first pitch at a Korea Baseball Organization (KBO League) game, and even a TV recording.
tvN said on the 2nd that Huang will appear on the talk show "You Quiz on the Block." His segment is scheduled to air this month. This is the first time Huang has appeared on a domestic or overseas variety show.
Huang will come to Korea this week after finishing his schedule for Nvidia's annual artificial intelligence (AI) conference "GTC Taipei" in Taiwan. During the visit, he will take part in a "You Quiz" recording.
Huang is the figure who grew Nvidia, which started as a graphics chip company, into a core company of the Generative AI era. As the founder and CEO of Nvidia, which leads the AI Semiconductor market, he is regarded as a representative figure of the global IT industry in both technology and management.
Huang is expected to appear on the broadcast to discuss his childhood, the process of building Nvidia into a global AI Semiconductor company, his view of the AI era, and the image of future talent. Nam Seung-yong, a CJ ENM management leader, said, "From a boy washing dishes to the CEO of the world's No. 1 company by market cap, his intensity, his insight that read the flow of the AI era and looked ahead to the future, and the image of talent for future society—his life story will unfold."
During Huang's stay in Korea, meetings with major domestic business leaders are also being pursued. Schedules being discussed include meetings with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, and it is known that Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won are also coordinating meeting schedules.
There is also talk of holding a so-called "samgyeopsal somaek" gathering—samgyeopsal with soju and beer—around Seongsu-dong in Seoul. As Huang is known to prefer casual meetups over formal official events, last October's "kkanbu meeting," when he met Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chairman Chung Eui-sun at a fried chicken restaurant in Seoul's Samseong-dong, is being recalled.
Huang is also reportedly considering throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the Doosan Bears' KBO League home game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on the 7th. On the 8th, he is also reviewing a visit to Naver's second headquarters "1784" in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
