Dataiku said on the 2nd that it wrapped up an artificial intelligence (AI) hackathon co-hosted with POSCO.
The event was organized as part of a Machine Learning operations (MLOps) capability-building program that ran for several months from early this year. Led by POSCO, the program comprised four stages: training, hands-on practice, coaching, and a hackathon. Dataiku Korea supported the entire process, from curriculum design to mentoring and judging.
About 30 engineers who are applying AI models to real-world work took part in the hackathon. Using actual process data from business sites across the country, including Pohang, Gwangyang, Seoul, and the R&D center, participants implemented AI solutions for key challenges in steel manufacturing, such as early detection of equipment anomalies, automation of quality assurance, and optimization of production processes.
Jung Gyu-ho, Deputy Minister for POSCO's DX Strategy, said, "This hackathon showed that POSCO employees have the capability to internalize AI by defining on-site problems themselves and solving them based on data," adding, "We will continue to accelerate an enterprise-wide AI transition so that POSCO can establish itself as a corporations that sets the global standard for manufacturing innovation in the steel industry."
Kim Jong-deok, head of Dataiku's Korea office, said, "Dataiku will continue to strengthen cooperation with POSCO and jointly lead AI innovation on the manufacturing floor."
