LG Uplus will be the first in Korea to introduce a subscription bundle that combines YouTube Premium and Google AI Pro. The strategy is to boost subscription competitiveness by merging video content consumption and Generative AI use into a single plan.
LG Uplus said on the 1st that it will launch the combined plan "YouTube Premium+Google AI Pro" on the 2nd through its subscription platform "Yudok." The monthly fee is 29,000 won, about 34% cheaper than subscribing to the two services separately. It lets users get YouTube Premium as well for roughly the price of a Google AI Pro subscription. Membership customers at VIP level or higher can apply a "VIP Kok" 4,000-won discount coupon to use it for 25,000 won per month.
YouTube Premium offers ad-free video viewing, background play, offline downloads, and YouTube Music. Google AI Pro is a Gemini-based Generative AI service that supports text and image generation, deep research, and integration with Gmail and Docs in Google Workspace. It also includes 5TB of Google One cloud storage that the subscriber and up to five family members can use together.
LG Uplus noted that more users are simultaneously watching videos and doing AI-based tasks. While traditional telecom bundles focused on bill discounts, this plan stands out by packaging content and AI productivity tools to enhance perceived benefits for customers. It also aligns with the trend of carriers expanding customer touchpoints beyond simple line sales into subscription platforms and AI services.
