Koh Young Technology said on the 29th it will take part in the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ASSFN) in Ohio and unveil its brain surgery medical robot Geniant Cranial.
ASSFN, which will be held from the 31st to the 2nd of next month, is a world-renowned academic event in functional neurosurgery. Medical staff and researchers in Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, neuromodulation, and stereotactic neurosurgery, as well as global medical device corporations from North America and around the world, will attend in large numbers. The latest research results and clinical applications in functional neurosurgery—including deep brain stimulation (DBS), next-generation neuromodulation technologies, and AI-based surgical planning and precision brain surgery—will be shared.
Geniant Cranial, which Koh Young will unveil at this event, is a device used for stereo-electroencephalography (sEEG) to detect seizure onset zones in surgery for intractable epilepsy. It is also used in complex neurosurgeries such as DBS for Parkinson's disease treatment and brain tissue biopsy.
At its booth, Koh Young will demonstrate an sEEG to showcase a robot-based electrode insertion workflow. Attendees can observe the actual surgical process from surgical planning to electrode insertion. A Koh Young official said, "Our brain surgery medical robot has been used in more than 800 surgeries in Korea, building extensive user experience," and added, "It is currently installed in hospitals in the United States and Japan and is being used in a variety of brain surgeries, including DBS."
