Kakao Entertainment released a webtoon-synced poster on the 28th ahead of ENA's drama Doctor Seomboy, based on the webtoon "Jonbeo Doctor."
Jonbeo Doctor is a webtoon by writer Kim Tae-pung that has been serialized on KakaoPage since 2022. It tells the story of public health doctor "Do Ji-eui," who is assigned to the island of Pyeondongdo, a place everyone avoids, treating various emergency patients and mingling with island residents.
The drama Doctor Seomboy was planned based on Jonbeo Doctor, with Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye Eun starring. Director Lee Myung-woo, who directed The Boyhood and The Fiery Priest, took the megaphone, and the script was written by writer Kim Ji-su.
The synced poster released this time was drawn directly by the original creator, writer Kim Tae-pung. Both the webtoon poster and the drama poster feature Do Ji-eui and Yuk Ha-ri against a backdrop of the sea.
KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon will also hold related events to coincide with the drama's broadcast. KakaoPage will offer a "free every 3 hours" benefit and cash rewards for Jonbeo Doctor through Aug. 13.
Kakao Webtoon will release season 1, episode 48 for free and plans to grant 10,000 cash to readers who view episode 84 or more. The drama Doctor Seomboy is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 1.
