Samsung Electronics has set up a permanent hands-on space where people can try its 2026 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, including the industry's first 6K gaming monitor.
Samsung Electronics said on the 28th that it opened Odyssey gaming monitor experience zones near Gangnam Station at "MAPLE AGIT" and near Hongik Univ. Station at "T1 Basecamp." At the zones, visitors can test gaming performance—such as picture quality, connectivity, and response time—of new monitors including the "Odyssey G8 (G80HS)" and the "Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH)."
The Odyssey G8, the first in the industry to support 6K (6144×3456) resolution, renders a screen more than 10 times finer than full HD (FHD) and about 2.5 times finer than 4K UHD through more than 21 million pixels. Users can enjoy high-resolution-graphics-based role-playing games (RPGs) and real-time strategy games (RTSs) more smoothly and immersively. With a high pixel density of 224 PPI, the Odyssey G8 expresses even minute details precisely, delivering clarity like looking at a printout on paper.
The Odyssey G8 also features "Dual Mode," which lets users switch between a "6K/165Hz ultra-high resolution" mode and a "3K/330Hz ultra-high refresh rate" mode depending on the usage environment. The company said it supports an optimal gaming experience across genres from RPGs to first-person shooters (FPS). The G80HS 6K model is available for hands-on experience only at MAPLE AGIT.
The Odyssey OLED G8 is equipped with "True Black" technology that delivers infinite contrast with perfect black. It offers picture quality optimized for gameplay with stark light-and-dark contrast, such as dark fantasy titles or sci-fi games with striking light sources. It renders in-game characters, props, and backgrounds more realistically, heightening visual immersion.
The Odyssey OLED G8 supports a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, glare-free anti-reflection technology, G-SYNC compatibility, and AMD FreeSync Premium. This provides a gaming environment without blooming or screen tearing.
To mark the opening of the Odyssey gaming monitor experience zones, Samsung Electronics is giving visitors an additional 3% discount coupon for gaming monitors and a 30,000 won discount coupon for the Moving Style Edge. Existing launch benefits, including Xbox subscription passes and discounts on Harman gaming gear, are also available.
Kim Yong-hun, managing director of Korea at Samsung Electronics, said, "We hope you will directly experience the overwhelming immersion delivered by our flagship gaming monitors at this experience zone and enjoy the various benefits as well."
