LG Electronics said on the 28th it will roll out the low-power display "LG E-paper Display" sequentially in overseas markets including Europe, starting in Korea early next month. It features a thin design that enhances versatility.
The LG E-paper Display is a commercial display that reproduces a paper poster-like texture and can maintain an image without power. It uses electronic ink panel technology that moves and fixes charged color particles according to an electric field to display images. Even when changing the image on the display, energy consumption is significantly lower than conventional digital signage. Because of this, it is highly useful in various commercial spaces, such as store menus and promotion notices, the company said.
The display comes in a 32-inch size with QHD (2560x1440) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. As a reflective display, it also offers a wide viewing angle (180x180). With no built-in light source, it presents content in a way that is comfortable to view. It also applies a self-developed image quality enhancement algorithm to maximize the color reproduction of the e-paper display, delivering natural and vivid colors.
The new product is equipped with a 72Wh high-capacity battery and an ultra-low-power system-on-chip (SoC) for extended use. Using the included charger, the product can be fully charged in about three hours when charged with the power turned off. It also supports wireless charging that allows a magnetic auxiliary battery to be attached to the back, enhancing usability.
It also supports a "Power Management" function that automatically controls power based on a user-designated content switching schedule. Using this feature, the power turns on automatically only when content switching is needed, reducing battery consumption and improving operational efficiency. When linked with LG Electronics' signage management solution "LG SuperSign CMS," it can run for extended periods according to the screen switching cycle.
The LG E-paper Display is designed with a thickness of 17.8 mm. The thinnest part measures just 8.6 mm. Including the built-in battery, it weighs 3.1 kg, making it easy to install indoors. It won a main award at the prestigious global design competition "Red Dot Design Award 2026."
Min Dong-seon, head of the ID Business Division at the MS Business Unit of LG Electronics, said, "With an ultra-light, ultra-slim design combined with groundbreaking ultra-low-power technology, the LG E-paper Display will give B2B customers a new option."
