Samsung Electronics and the joint bargaining team of labor unions signed the final 2026 wage agreement.
Samsung Electronics said on the 27th that it held a "2026 wage agreement signing ceremony" with the joint bargaining team of labor unions at "The UniverSE" in Giheung, Yongin, Gyeonggi. Attending from management were Vice President Yeo Myung-gu, head of the People Team of the Samsung Electronics DS (semiconductor) institutional sector, and Vice President Kim Hyung-ro. From the union side, Choi Seung-ho, Chairperson of the Samsung Electronics chapter of the Samsung Group trans-enterprise labor union, and Kim Jae-won, head of policy planning at the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union, were present.
Samsung Electronics and the joint bargaining team reached a tentative 2026 wage agreement late on the 20th, a day before the planned general strike. A vote of union members was then held from 2 p.m. on the 22nd to 10 a.m. that day, and the tentative deal was finally approved with a turnout of 95.5% and a 73.7% approval rate.
Vice President Yeo said, "With this wage agreement as a starting point, labor and management will come together as one to strengthen global competitiveness," adding, "Thank you to the labor union and all employees for engaging in negotiations with sincerity and never letting go of the thread of dialogue until the end."
Chairperson Choi said, "There were some regrettable parts in this wage bargaining process, but I think labor and management reached a meaningful agreement after a long period of dialogue and discussion," adding, "We will continue to work to improve the working conditions and rights of Samsung Electronics employees going forward."
