Melon, the music platform of Kakao Entertainment, said on the 26th that it will team up with China's Tencent Music Entertainment and Japan's LINE MUSIC to unveil the "Global-K Chart" next month.
The "Global-K Chart" is a chart (list) that compiles rankings by integrating K-pop usage from the leading music platforms in Korea, China, and Japan. It follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) the three companies signed in Dec. last year. A Melon official said, "The 'Global-K Chart' with Melon, Tencent Music, and LINE MUSIC is expected to become the global standard that most accurately reflects K-pop trends."
Ahead of the launch of the "Global-K Chart," Melon will also release a video featuring congratulatory messages from popular K-pop singers, including NCT leader Taeyong, LE SSERAFIM, Alphadriveone, and ANDOUBLE.
