Samsung Electronics proved its leadership in the local smartphone market by taking sole first place in a mobile phone satisfaction survey of U.S. consumers.
Samsung Electronics said on the 22nd that in the "2026 telecommunications, smartphones, and smartwatches survey" that the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) released on the 19th (local time), the company ranked No. 1 with a score of 81 in overall mobile phone satisfaction. Apple, which tied with Samsung Electronics for first place last year, fell one point to 80 and stayed in second. Google and Motorola tied for third with 77 points each.
The survey was conducted with about 30,000 U.S. consumers from Apr. 2025 to Mar. 2026. It evaluated key user experiences such as calls, text messages, artificial intelligence (AI) features, screen quality, and cameras.
By feature, communication functions including calls and text messages scored the highest at 86. The newly added mobile AI feature category also scored 85, tying for second. It is seen to mean that smartphone purchase criteria are expanding beyond hardware performance to AI usage experience.
In the flagship category, where premium competition is fierce, Samsung Electronics also took sole first with 84 points. Apple came in at 82. The U.S. market has a high share of premium smartphones and is regarded as a key market to gauge brand loyalty and replacement demand.
Samsung Electronics also showed strength across the broader mobile ecosystem. In smartwatches, it scored 80, tying with Apple for first. The latest AI phone, "Galaxy S26 Ultra," also ranked No. 1 overall with a total score of 88 from U.S. consumer review outlet Consumer Reports in April and was selected as the "best smartphone."
