Hancom Lifecare, a Hancom Group corporations specializing in firefighting, defense, and safety equipment, is making a full-fledged entry into the unmanned firefighting robot business to secure new growth engines.
Hancom Lifecare said on the 21st that it signed a strategic business agreement for the Korea market with France's "Shark Robotics," a global leading corporations in unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).
The robot series introduced through this partnership is a proven robot platform, with more than 350 units in active operation in over 25 countries worldwide. Hancom Lifecare plans to use this as a foundation to expand its business into intelligent safety solutions centered on advanced robots.
The flagship model, "Colossus," was deployed for about 10 hours during the 2019 fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. As a mid- to large-sized 500-kg robot, it has powerful water discharge of up to 3,800 L per minute and towing capacity of more than 1 ton.
Introduced together, the "Rhyno Project" is a mid-sized 200-kg robot that maneuvers nimbly even in tight spaces, optimized for responding to fires at industrial facilities and in urban areas. Both models adopt a modular system, allowing free mounting, tailored to on-site conditions, of remotely controlled unmanned water monitors (water cannons) as well as ventilation fans, stretchers for evacuating the injured, and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) reconnaissance sensors.
Hancom Lifecare aims to preempt the domestic unmanned firefighting robot market by establishing a total service system that covers everything from consulting on robot adoption to providing customized solutions and professional after-sales service (AS). Starting on the 20th at Daegu EXCO (EXCO), the company took part in the "2026 International Fire Safety Expo" and conducted demonstrations of its unmanned firefighting robot lineup.
Hancom Lifecare CEO Kim Sun-young said, "The combination of safety technology that protects people and advanced robot technology will be an innovative inflection point for Hancom Lifecare to evolve into a technology-centered safety solutions corporations," adding, "Starting with this entry into the unmanned firefighting robot business, we will secure differentiated technological competitiveness and expand our business scope in all directions to strengthen our mid- to long-term growth momentum."
