Nvidia set a new quarterly sales record for the 12th straight quarter.
Nvidia disclosed on the 20th (local time) that revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (February to April 2026) came in at $81.62 billion (about 122 trillion won). That was up 20% from the prior quarter ($68.13 billion), resetting its sales record. It rose 85% from a year earlier. The result topped the revenue consensus of $78.85 billion compiled by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
Operating profit for the period was $53.5 billion (about 80.1371 trillion won), more than tripling from the same period a year earlier ($18.7 billion). Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) were $1.87, beating Wall Street's estimate of $1.76.
Revenue from the data center institutional sector for the period totaled $75.2 billion. Growing 92% from a year earlier, it lifted overall results. Specifically, revenue from the data center computing institutional sector was $60.4 billion, and the networking institutional sector was $14.8 billion. Revenue from the edge computing institutional sector, which covers PCs, game consoles, and Autonomous Driving vehicles, was $6.4 billion, up 29% from a year earlier.
Nvidia said it will revamp its business institutional sector classification starting this quarter. Instead of categorizing by detailed areas, it will reorganize around two pillars: the data center institutional sector and edge computing, and it will further split data centers into hyperscale and ACIE (AI cloud, industry, corporations) institutional sectors.
Nvidia projected that the first-quarter growth momentum will continue into the second quarter, with revenue reaching $91 billion. The company said the outlook excludes revenue related to data centers in the China market.
Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), said, "The buildout of AI factories—the largest infrastructure expansion in human history—is accelerating at an amazing pace," and added, "Nvidia is the only platform that runs on every cloud, supports every frontier model and open-source model, and scales everywhere AI is produced, from hyperscale data centers to edge computing."
