Samsung Electronics said on the 20th that it will launch four new Odyssey gaming monitors for 2026, including the industry's first gaming monitor to support 6K ultra-high resolution, the "Odyssey G8."
The new lineup includes: ◇ the 6K ultra-high-resolution "Odyssey G8 G80HS" ◇ the "Odyssey G8 G80HF," which supports 5K resolution and up to a 180Hz refresh rate ◇ the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) model "Odyssey G8 G80SH," with up to a 240Hz refresh rate and 4K resolution ◇ the 32-inch 4K OLED model "Odyssey G7 G73SH," which supports dual mode.
The 32-inch "G8 G80HS" model supports 6K (6144×3456) resolution. Depending on the usage environment, it features dual mode that allows switching between ▲ 6K·165Hz ultra-high-resolution mode ▲ 3K·330Hz ultra-high-refresh-rate mode. The 27-inch "Odyssey G8 (G80HF)" offers 5K (5144×2880) resolution and up to a 180Hz refresh rate. With dual mode, it can reach up to 360Hz at quad HD (QHD) resolution.
Both models support ▲ DisplayPort 2.1 ▲ Nvidia G-Sync Compatible certification ▲ AMD FreeSync Premium. The HDR10+ Gaming technology analyzes game scenes and frames to deliver more depth on screen.
Samsung Electronics will also release gaming monitors with OLED panels. The "OLED G8 G80SH" will come in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes. It supports 4K (3840×2160) resolution and up to a 240Hz refresh rate. Glare Free technology reduces reflections, and it supports DisplayPort 2.1 and 98W USB-C charging. Quantum dot organic light-emitting diode (QD-OLED) penta tandem technology improves the panel's energy efficiency, lifespan and brightness.
The 32-inch "Odyssey OLED G8" received Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. The 32-inch 4K OLED model "Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH)" supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate. With dual mode, users can select a 330Hz refresh rate at full HD (FHD) resolution.
Factory prices are: ▲ 32-inch 6K "Odyssey G8 (G80HS)" 1.89 million won ▲ 27-inch 5K "Odyssey G8 (G80HF)" 1.19 million won ▲ 32-inch "Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH)" 1.75 million won ▲ 27-inch "Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH)" 1.55 million won ▲ 32-inch "Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH)" 1.39 million won.
Lee Heon, vice president of the visual display business at Samsung Electronics, said, "These new products set a new standard in the monitor market through 6K ultra-high-resolution technology and OLED innovation," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the global monitor market with Odyssey at the forefront."
According to market research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics ranked No. 1 last year by value with an 18.9% share in the gaming monitor market with refresh rates of 144Hz or higher. In the OLED monitor market, it maintained the top spot for three consecutive years with a 26% share by value.
To mark the launch, Samsung Electronics will offer benefits through domestic online and offline channels, including Samsung Store, Samsung.com and open markets, through the 31st. During the event, customers who purchase a new monitor will receive a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
If the new products are purchased through the Samsung Electronics artificial intelligence (AI) subscription service "AI Subscription Club," the offer can be combined with the existing subscription-only Xbox Game Pass promotion for up to six months of access. A special discount promotion for Harman gaming gear will also run. Customers who purchase a new gaming monitor together with Harman's "Quantum TWS Air" gaming earbuds can buy the earbuds at a discounted price of 50,000 won. Customers who purchase the "Harman Quantum 950 Gaming Headset" package on Samsung.com will also receive a 50% discount on the headset.
