In a statement on the 20th, Samsung Electronics said that labor and management at Samsung Electronics had reached a tentative agreement on the "wage and collective agreement," adding that "albeit belatedly, we were able to reach an agreement thanks to the support of the public, shareholders and customers, the government's dedicated mediation, and the employees who quietly held their posts."
Samsung Electronics said, "Along with our sincere gratitude, we deeply apologize for the concern we have caused," adding, "We will build a more mature and constructive labor-management relationship with humility so that this never happens again."
It added, "In addition, by fulfilling the original role and responsibility of corporations, we will do our utmost to contribute further to the national economy."
Although the second post-adjustment meeting presided over by the Central Labor Committee on the morning of the 20th broke down, labor and management at Samsung Electronics produced a tentative agreement in the final negotiations presided over by Minister Kim Young-hoon of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) starting at 4 p.m.
The Samsung Electronics labor union will put on hold the general strike it had announced for the 21st and will hold a vote of union members for and against the tentative 2026 wage agreement from 2 p.m. on the 22nd to 10 a.m. on the 27th.
