SK Telink said on the 18th that it has signed contracts to supply Starlink services with Korea's leading shipping companies, including HMM, Pan Ocean, H-Line Shipping, SK Shipping, and KSS LINE, expanding the domestic maritime low Earth orbit satellite communications market.
SK Telink provides end-to-end communications, security, and operations support needed for ship operations based on the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Network of Starlink. SK Telink analyzes a shipping company's routes and business characteristics even before a contract and applies a "pre-consulting–integrated build" approach that reflects security requirements in the infrastructure design in advance.
SK Telink said its differentiator lies in an integrated solution model that goes beyond simply providing lines. The company said, "Based on Starlink's low Earth orbit satellites, we provide about one-tenth the latency compared with geostationary orbit and speeds of around 250 Mbps," adding, "We offer a cyber defense system based on unified threat management (UTM) tailored to ship environments, integrated and designed with the communications network."
SK Telink plans to expand its integrated solution model, proven at sea, to shipbuilding, offshore plants, public, and defense sectors. The company said it will gradually combine SK Group's ICT family capabilities—such as quantum cryptography security, AI data analytics, and CCTV safety control—to increase added value.
