Cybersecurity corporations Genians posted record first-quarter results this year on solid sales of its flagship products.

Genians said on the 15th that first-quarter sales on a consolidation basis rose 25.5% on-year to 11.74 billion won. Operating profit surged 4,676.9% in the same period to 1.74 billion won.

This quarter's strong performance was driven by the expansion of service businesses such as Genians' core operations in NAC (network access control) and EDR (endpoint detection and response), cloud NAC, and MDR (managed detection and response). The zero trust business, a next-generation growth engine, and "Genian Home," a home network interhousehold network-segmentation security solution launched in the first quarter, also secured customers and sustained the growth trend.

A Genians official said, "Despite the first quarter being a traditional off-season, we significantly improved profitability and entered a full-fledged turnaround phase."

Genians said strong growth is expected in the second half as demand for security solutions increases with the expansion of AI-based cyberattacks. The company said, "With the spread of AI-based attacks, demand will rise for Genians' integrated defense system that combines NAC, EDR, and ZTNA (zero trust network access)," adding, "The government's tighter regulatory policies—such as revising the Personal Information Protection Act to raise the penalty surcharge to 10% of sales in the event of a hacking incident—and increased investment in AI security infrastructure will create new opportunities for Genians."

Chief Executive Lee Dong-beom of Genians said, "The advent of the AI era is accelerating the sorting of the wheat from the chaff among security corporations," adding, "Riding the momentum of the first quarter's successful turnaround, Genians will continue to grow in the second half through responses to AI threats and global expansion."
