HANCOM posted its highest-ever quarterly results on a standalone basis in the first quarter this year, driven by growth in the artificial intelligence (AI) institutional sector.
HANCOM said on the 13th that standalone first-quarter sales came to 46.5 billion won, up 2.4% from a year earlier. Operating profit rose 2.7% in the same period to 17.6 billion won. On a consolidation basis, sales were 63.6 billion won and operating profit was 8.5 billion won, up 4.4% and 2.4%, respectively.
The results surpassed the record first-quarter performance set last year. A HANCOM official said the company "led top-line growth for three consecutive years through a successful overhaul from a legacy installed-package software-centric business structure to an AI business-centric structure."
On an annual basis, standalone revenue increased from 128.1 billion won in 2023 to 175.3 billion won last year, and this year the company set a target of 210 billion won in annual sales, aiming to surpass 200 billion won for the first time since its founding.
The company assessed that growth is being driven by HANCOM's core AI products, which perform document parsing and unstructured data extraction and have been adopted as essential solutions by corporations seeking to build AI infrastructure and by the public sector.
HANCOM plans to launch its next-generation vision, "twin-type agentic OS," in the first half and push for commercialization within the year. The "twin-type agentic OS" is a technology that implements a "digital twin (AI agent)" that replicates the user's work style. Even after the user leaves work, the agent autonomously completes tasks around the clock.
The company is also stepping up its push into overseas markets. HANCOM's "OpenDataLoader PDF" recently surpassed 20,000 stars on GitHub, the world's largest open-source community, underscoring its technical prowess.
Kim Yeon-su, HANCOM's CEO, said, "The first-quarter results clearly show in numbers that HANCOM is being reappraised as an AI technology corporations beyond a traditional software corporations," adding, "building on our current stable revenue structure and leveraging the potential of the technology ecosystem confirmed on platforms such as GitHub, we will focus our companywide capabilities on developing the next-generation vision, 'agentic OS,' and expanding into global markets."
